Buffalo Gap National Grassland

Drove through one of the most gorgeous grasslands in South Dakota this afternoon. Buffalo Gap National Grassland is the second largest grassland area in the United States. Can’t wait to try the honey that is produced from the bee hives in the within the grassland boundaries. The grassland visitor’s center is in Wall, South Dakota.

January 2014

While at home recuperating from surgery, I discovered theĀ Fund for Teachers grant opportunity and decided to apply. Designing and planning a professional development opportunity that would help me grow as a teacher and challenge my students was fun and at times very challenging. In the end I decided to design the grant around a road trip to Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota, a road trip to investigate Native American tribes, landforms, cultural influences, and early farm life that brought settlers to the Great Plains during the 1880s.
